NIMC releases new guidelines for NIN applicants

The National Identity Management Commission, on Tuesday, issued fresh guidelines for applicants to obtain their National Identification Number. NIMC spokesman, Kayode Adegoke, made this known in a statement titled, ‘NIMC Adopts Booking System For NIN Enrolment’. The statement partly read, “Mindful of the second wave of the COVID-19 which continues to severely affect public health and cause unprecedented disruptions, the Commission wishes to announce that it has adopted a couple of measures to contain the spread of the virus whilst ensuring its services to Nigerians are not entirely interrupted. “Effective December 30, 2020, attending to applicants would be based on Booking System. For Bookings, applicants are to visit any of the NIMC Offices closest to them during stipulated business hours (9am – 1pm). “Once admitted into the office, a Number-Issuing queue management system will be in place to ensure orderliness and strict adherence to Covid-19 Protocols.” The Commission al...

NIN TO BE USED AS ONE OF THE CRITERIA FOR 2021 UTME REGISTRATION.

Candidates that are to sit for next year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, will have their applications linked to their National Identification Number, NIN, investigation by Vanguard has revealed. This is despite the fact that the attempt to do so this year failed because of hiccups that trailed the exercise which eventually led to its abandonment at the end of the day. Investigations by Vanguard at the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB and the National Identification and Management Commission, NIMC, have revealed the exercise will be part of the criteria for registering for UTME in 2021.00 Both agencies entered into an agreement early this year to make UTME candidates have their applications linked to their NIN, however, given the directive by government that GSM operators should have the lines of their customers linked to their NIN, the pressure on NIMC is becoming overwhelming. WHATSAPP TO STOP WORKING ON MILLIONS OF PHONES BY 2021

A new WhatsApp update will prevent the popular messaging app from working on millions of phones from January 1st 2021. Older Android and iPhone devices will no longer support the latest version of the app, forcing owners to either update their mobile operating system or buy a new smartphone. Any iPhone not running iOS 9 or newer, or any phone not running at least Android 4.0.3 – also known as Ice Cream Sandwich – will no longer be able to open or operate the Facebook-owned app. This means all iPhone models up to the iPhone 4 will be unable to support WhatsApp, as these phones are not capable of updating to iOS 9. The iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S were all released before iOS 9, however owners can still update to the operating system if they are yet to do so. Android phones that will lose WhatsApp support include the Samsung Galaxy S2, HTC Desire and LG Optimus Black. Father and popular musician, Davido is currently the talk of social media. The past few hours on social media has been riddled with heated debates among fans of Nigerians singers Burna Boy, Wizkid and Davido following the ugly incident that went down in Ghana. Just recently, the musician posted a snapshot of his Immigration card on Instagram indicating his stated occupation which as you can see in the photo below is “The Best”. However fans were quick to notice his wavy handwriting and this has caught the attention of Nigerians and is quickly going viral.
